Buying guide

Which kit fits your home?

Last updated 21 October 2026

How to choose. Battery size (kWh) sets how long your backup lasts; inverter size (kW) sets how much can run at once. The two 2.5kWh kits (KSh 90,000 with a 1.5kW 12V inverter, KSh 135,000 with a 3.5kW 24V inverter) suit lights, TV, Wi-Fi and phone charging. The 5kWh kit (KSh 300,000) and the 10kWh kit (KSh 400,000) both use a 6.2kW 48V inverter, for bigger homes and longer nights.
What is in each kit. 2.5kWh kits: a YACHU 2.56kWh lithium battery and 2 × 610W bifacial panels. 5kWh kit: a 51.2V 100Ah (5.12kWh) battery and 6 × 610W panels. 10kWh kit: a 51.2V 212Ah (10.85kWh) battery and 10 × 610W panels, as listed. Warranty is the manufacturer’s: 6 years on the battery and 1 year on the inverter, as listed. Ask us for terms.

FAQ

Solar package FAQs

Straight answers on cost, inverters, batteries and installation.

How much does a complete solar system cost in Kenya?

At Technics Electricals & Solar in Kiserian, complete YACHU solar kits cost KSh 90,000 to KSh 400,000. KSh 90,000 buys a 2.5kWh lithium battery, 1.5kW hybrid inverter and two 610W panels; KSh 400,000 buys the 10kWh kit. Prices exclude installation unless stated. The right size depends on your load, and we size it free.

  • 2.5kWh kit, 1.5kW inverter, 2 × 610W panels: KSh 90,000
  • 2.5kWh kit, 3.5kW inverter, 2 × 610W panels: KSh 135,000
  • 5kWh kit, 6.2kW inverter, 6 × 610W panels: KSh 300,000
  • 10kWh kit, 6.2kW inverter, 10 × 610W panels (as listed): KSh 400,000

How much is a 5kWh solar system in Kenya?

Technics Electricals & Solar sells the YACHU 5kWh solar system for KSh 300,000. It includes a 5.12kWh lithium battery (51.2V 100Ah, Grade A CATL cells), a 6.2kW hybrid inverter with built-in MPPT and six 610W bifacial panels (3,660W). Installation is quoted separately after a site visit, unless stated.

Ask us which mounting and cabling parts come with the kit before you order.

What can a 5kWh solar system run?

As a rough estimate, a 5kWh lithium system can run about 500W of lights, TV, Wi-Fi and an efficient fridge for roughly eight hours from a full battery, while six 610W panels recharge it by day. Cookers, kettles, irons and instant showers need a bigger system. Your appliances may differ, so we size it free.

The estimate assumes you use about 80% of the 5.12kWh battery (around 4kWh) and that the panels get a sunny day. WhatsApp us your appliance list with the hours you need each one, and we will check it against the kit.

Is installation included in the solar package price?

No. Solar package prices at Technics Electricals & Solar cover the equipment listed and exclude installation unless stated. We quote installation after a free site visit, once we know your location, roof type, cable runs and what you want to power. Our team installs across Kajiado County, including Kiserian, Ngong, Ongata Rongai and Matasia.

Mounting rails, cables, isolators and breakers depend on your site, so ask us which parts the installation quote covers.

What is the difference between the two 2.5kWh solar kits?

Both YACHU 2.5kWh kits have a 2.56kWh lithium battery and two 610W bifacial panels. The KSh 90,000 kit uses a 1.5kW 12V hybrid inverter with a 12.8V 200Ah battery; the KSh 135,000 kit uses a 3.5kW 24V inverter with a 25.6V 100Ah battery, so it can run more appliances at the same time.

Backup time is about the same, because the battery stores the same energy. Choose the 3.5kW kit if you want headroom for a fridge, a pump or more sockets, or plan to add batteries later.

Can I add more batteries or panels to a solar kit later?

Usually, yes, within the inverter’s limits. You can add a matching battery for longer backup or more panels for faster charging, as long as the voltage matches and the inverter’s solar input can take them. The 5kWh and 10kWh kits share the same 6.2kW inverter, so the step up is mainly battery and panels.

Tell us your current set-up before you buy extra parts and we will check the battery model, voltage and panel limits for you.
