• MCB circuit breakers: single-pole 10A, 16A, 20A, 32A and 63A at KSh each; double-pole 32A (KSh 500) and 63A (KSh 650); and triple-pole 32A (KSh 750), 63A and 100A (KSh 850 each) for three-phase boards. The 10A, 16A and 32A single-pole and both double-pole breakers are listed with a 6kA breaking capacity.
• Switches and sockets on standard 86 × 86 mm plates: 1-gang to 4-gang 2-way switches (from KSh 100), 13A single (KSh 200) and double (KSh 300) switched sockets with safety shutters, a 45A cooker switch with socket (KSh 850) and a waterproof bell switch for gates (KSh 550).
• LED bulbs: 5W (KSh 120), 9W with a B22 pin base (KSh 180) and 7W E27 candle bulbs (KSh 200), in white or warm white.
• Tape and accessories: 19mm flame-retardant PVC insulating tape in 10-yard (KSh 65) and 20-yard (KSh 120) rolls in black, red, white and blue, and a battery wireless doorbell with up to 200m open-area range (KSh 2,000).

How do I choose a breaker rating?

A breaker protects the cable, so its rating follows the cable size and the circuit, not only the appliance. As a general guide, lighting circuits in homes typically use 6A or 10A breakers, socket circuits 16A to 32A depending on whether they are radial or ring circuits, and a cooker or water heater gets its own circuit with a higher rating. Your electrician should confirm every rating against the cable and the load.

Use single-pole MCBs for individual circuits, double-pole where live and neutral must be switched together (for example as a main switch), and triple-pole only on three-phase (415V) supplies such as workshops and larger buildings.

Switches, sockets and bulbs

A 2-way switch can control one light from two places, such as both ends of a corridor or the top and bottom of the stairs, and it also works as an ordinary 1-way switch. Tronic's sockets are listed to BS 1363 for 3-pin plugs with a 3,000W maximum load at 230V, and the cooker switch is listed for up to 10,350W. For bulbs, B22 is the pin (bayonet) base and E27 the screw base: check your lamp holder before you buy.
