Buying guide
Last updated 28 October 2026
A solar street light has its panel built into the body and goes on a pole over a path, driveway or parking. A solar floodlight has a separate panel on a cable, so the lamp can sit under the eaves or over a gate while the panel faces the sun. The wattage on solar lights is the maker's rating, so compare the lumens and battery size where they are listed, and mount every panel where nothing shades it during the day.

Ask on WhatsAppAt Technics Electricals & Solar in Kiserian, the MODI 200W solar floodlight (IP65, LiFePO4 battery, remote) costs KSh 6,500, and the MODI 400W solar floodlight costs KSh 8,500. The 400W has a separate 30W panel on a 5m cable, a 25Ah LiFePO4 battery, a light sensor and a timer, and is listed at 20,000 lumens.
The MODI 200W solar street light costs KSh 5,000 at our Kiserian shop. It has a light sensor, a remote with a 3, 5 or 8-hour timer and an IP65 rating, and is listed at 6,000 lumens with about 12 hours of dusk-to-dawn working time. The pole is not included; it is listed for 3–5m mounting.
MODI lists a 3–5m mounting height for both of its street lights we stock. Within that range, a lower mount gives a brighter pool of light and a higher one spreads it wider. Choose a spot where the built-in panel gets direct sun most of the day, away from trees and roof shadows.
