At Technics Electricals & Solar in Kiserian, complete YACHU solar kits cost KSh 90,000 to KSh 400,000. KSh 90,000 buys a 2.5kWh lithium battery, 1.5kW hybrid inverter and two 610W panels; KSh 400,000 buys the 10kWh kit. Prices exclude installation unless stated. The right size depends on your load, and we size it free.
Technics Electricals & Solar sells the YACHU 5kWh solar system for KSh 300,000. It includes a 5.12kWh lithium battery (51.2V 100Ah, Grade A CATL cells), a 6.2kW hybrid inverter with built-in MPPT and six 610W bifacial panels (3,660W). Installation is quoted separately after a site visit, unless stated.
Ask us which mounting and cabling parts come with the kit before you order.
No. Solar package prices at Technics Electricals & Solar cover the equipment listed and exclude installation unless stated. We quote installation after a free site visit, once we know your location, roof type, cable runs and what you want to power. Our team installs across Kajiado County, including Kiserian, Ngong, Ongata Rongai and Matasia.
Mounting rails, cables, isolators and breakers depend on your site, so ask us which parts the installation quote covers.
Yes, if the system is sized to cover the power you use while the sun is up. A hybrid system can run your home from solar first and store the extra in a battery for the evening, so you buy fewer KPLC tokens. How much you save depends on your usage, the system size and the battery.
Bring or WhatsApp a few months of token receipts and your appliance list, and we will estimate what a system could cover. Any saving figure is an estimate, not a guarantee.
As a rough estimate, a 5kWh lithium system can run about 500W of lights, TV, Wi-Fi and an efficient fridge for roughly eight hours from a full battery, while six 610W panels recharge it by day. Cookers, kettles, irons and instant showers need a bigger system. Your appliances may differ, so we size it free.
The estimate assumes you use about 80% of the 5.12kWh battery (around 4kWh) and that the panels get a sunny day. WhatsApp us your appliance list with the hours you need each one, and we will check it against the kit.
As a rough estimate, a 2.5kWh YACHU kit can run about 250W of LED lights, a TV, Wi-Fi and phone charging for roughly eight hours from a full battery. The KSh 90,000 kit has a 1.5kW inverter; the KSh 135,000 kit has a 3.5kW inverter, so it handles bigger loads at the same time.
A small, efficient fridge can be added if you keep other night-time loads low. Heavy heating appliances stay on KPLC. Your appliances may differ: send your list and we size it free.
Yes, within its size. A hybrid inverter charges your battery from solar panels and KPLC power, then switches over automatically when the grid goes off, so connected lights, TV, Wi-Fi and fridge keep running from the battery. How long it lasts depends on battery size and load; cookers, kettles and water heaters drain small systems fast.
Only the circuits wired to the inverter stay on, so we agree with you which ones matter before we install. WhatsApp us your appliance list and we will size it.
A 6.2kW inverter like the YACHU 6.2kW is a 48V unit, so it needs a 48V battery bank: one 48V (51.2V) lithium battery, such as our YACHU 5kWh (KSh 95,000) or 10kWh (KSh 160,000), or four 12V batteries wired in series. Many 5kVA hybrid inverters also run at 48V; check the label.
Four 12V 200Ah gel batteries in series store about 9.6kWh, but only about half is usable if you want them to last, so they give roughly the same usable energy as the 5kWh lithium battery. More storage means longer backup, not more power at once.
Our YACHU 3.5kW hybrid inverter is a 24V unit, so it pairs with one 24V (25.6V) lithium battery, such as the YACHU 2.5kWh 25.6V 100Ah (KSh 40,000) used in our KSh 135,000 package, or two 12V batteries wired in series. Add storage for longer night-time backup; we size it to your load.
Two 12V 200Ah gel batteries (KSh 30,000 each) in series give a 24V bank of about 4.8kWh, of which roughly half is usable.
The YACHU 1.5kW hybrid inverter is a 12V unit, so it needs one 12V battery. Our KSh 90,000 kit pairs it with the YACHU 2.5kWh 12.8V 200Ah lithium battery (KSh 40,000 on its own). On a budget, a 12V gel battery works too: 100Ah KSh 14,000, 150Ah KSh 20,000 or 200Ah KSh 30,000.
You can add a second 12V battery in parallel (same type and age) for longer backup. Lithium gives more usable energy per kWh stored; gel is cheaper to start with.
It depends on how much energy you use each day. As a rough estimate, one 610W panel produces about 2–2.5kWh on a sunny day in Kajiado, so a home using 5kWh a day needs two to three panels, plus a margin for cloudy days. Our kits come with 2, 6 or 10 panels, and we size it free.
The rule of thumb: daily kWh ÷ 5 sun-hours ÷ 0.8 ≈ kW of panels. Treat it as an estimate: roof direction, shade and dust all change the real output.
Lithium costs more upfront but usually lasts much longer: YACHU lithium batteries are listed at 6,000+ cycles with Grade A CATL cells, are lighter, and let you use more of their stored energy. Gel batteries are cheaper to start, from KSh 14,000 for a 12V 100Ah. Lithium suits daily cycling; gel suits lighter or occasional backup.
On our arithmetic, the lithium battery already costs less per usable kWh, before counting its longer life. These are estimates; we can compare both for your load.
Not exactly. kW is real power and kVA is apparent power, and sellers often mix the two. Our YACHU hybrid inverters are sold by kW: 1.5kW (12V, KSh 27,000), 3.5kW (24V, KSh 33,000) and 6.2kW (48V, KSh 45,000). When you compare a “5kVA” quote, compare continuous output in watts and the battery voltage.
Ask us for the datasheet of the model you are considering and we will explain the ratings in plain terms.
The Chloride Exide Powerlast N70MF (KSh 11,000 at our Kiserian shop) is listed for the Toyota Land Cruiser, Prado, Hilux and Fortuner, and for similar vehicles such as the Nissan Patrol, Isuzu D-Max, Mitsubishi Pajero and Ford Ranger. It is a 12V, 70Ah maintenance-free battery with 520 cold-cranking amps, as listed.
Check the terminal layout on your old battery before you buy: the N70MF listing shows a left-hand layout. For smaller cars, ask about the 045MF NS (KSh 8,000). Send your make, model and year on WhatsApp and we will confirm the size.

Some models, yes. The YACHU 1.5kW and 6.2kW hybrid inverter listings say they can be monitored on a phone through a Wi-Fi module. Ask us whether the module comes with your unit or costs extra before you buy, and which app it uses; we can help you connect it.
Yes. Tell Technics Electricals & Solar what must stay on during a KPLC blackout and for how many hours, and we will recommend a YACHU kit or a custom build at no charge. WhatsApp your appliance list, call +254 719 626200, or bring it to our Kiserian shop. You see the equipment price in KSh before we visit.
In four steps. We size the system free from your appliance list, supply the kit from our Kiserian shop, then our team mounts the panels, wires the inverter, battery and protection, and commissions the system. After handover we show you how it works and help with after-sales questions; warranty is the manufacturer’s, so ask us for terms.
It depends on the system size, the roof and the cable runs, so we give you a date and a time estimate with your installation quote after the site visit. A small kit on an easy roof is quicker than a 10kWh system with ten panels and long cable runs. We agree the timing with you before we start.
Yes. Besides homes and shops, Technics Electricals & Solar sizes and installs solar for schools, churches, institutions, ranches, farms and off-grid plots across Kajiado County. Larger sites often need more storage, more panels or several systems, so we start with a site visit and a list of what must run, then quote.
For compounds and gates far from a power line, solar floodlights (from KSh 4,000) are a quick win.
Check the markings, weight and price. Genuine breakers and cables carry clear, permanent brand names and ratings, consistent colours and a solid weight. Cable that is far cheaper than normal may be copper-clad aluminium rather than solid copper, which runs hotter. Buy from a shop that stocks known brands and will stand behind what it sells.
Yes. Fundis and contractors can WhatsApp their list of breakers, sockets, switches, conduits, tapes and bulbs to Technics Electricals & Solar on +254 719 626200. Yes. Technics Electricals & Solar wires new houses and rewires older ones in Kiserian, Ngong, Ongata Rongai, Matasia and across Kajiado County: lighting and socket circuits, consumer units, cooker and water-heater points, and outside lights. We quote after a site visit and supply the materials from our own counter.
It depends on the number of points, the cable and fittings you choose, the wall type and whether it is a new build or a rewire, so Technics Electricals & Solar quotes after a site visit. Materials are priced from our counter, for example Tronic switches from KSh 100, sockets from KSh 200 and MCBs from KSh 250.
To speed up the quote, send the house plan or a list of rooms with the lights and sockets you want in each. Ask us to show materials and labour separately if you want to compare.
Yes. Our team replaces old fuse boxes and overloaded distribution boards with a new consumer unit, fitted with the right MCBs for each circuit, and adds circuits for new loads such as a cooker, water heater or solar inverter. We inspect the existing wiring first and quote after a site visit in Kiserian, Ngong, Rongai and across Kajiado County.
We stock Windsor 4-way and 6-way consumer units and Tronic, Coslik and Powermax breakers at the counter.
Ask us before you buy. Cable isn’t in our online catalogue yet, so WhatsApp Technics Electricals & Solar the sizes (for example 1.5mm, 2.5mm or 6mm) and lengths you need, and we will confirm what we can supply and the price. Always check that cable is pure copper, not copper-clad aluminium, with the size printed on the sheath.
Copper-clad aluminium (CCA) cable looks like copper but has an aluminium core, so it has higher resistance and runs hotter than pure copper cable of the same size. That makes it risky for house wiring and heavy loads such as cookers and water heaters. Check a cut end: pure copper is copper-coloured right through.
A price far below other shops is another warning sign. Ask your electrician to confirm the cable before it goes into the wall.
WhatsApp your shopping list or appliance list. We confirm stock and price, then you collect in Kiserian or we deliver.
