  • F18-200 LED solar shell lamp, 18W (KSh 1,000): 120 LEDs and a 5,400mAh battery, charged by its solar panel or by USB (5V/2A), listed for over 5 hours, with a metal stand and carry handle.
  • 6W solar camping lantern with hand crank (KSh 1,500): charges from a small solar panel or the crank and has a USB output for topping up a phone.

Which one should I buy?

For lighting a room or a stall through a power cut, the shell lamp gives the most light and the longest listed run time. For walking a compound or checking a gate at night, the searchlight's long beam is the better tool. The lantern is the backup that never needs a socket: its battery is small (800mAh, as listed), so treat the phone-charging output as an emergency top-up.

Which rechargeable light is best during blackouts?

For lighting a room, shop or stall during a KPLC blackout, the DP Light F18-200 18W shell lamp (KSh 1,000) is the strongest of the three: 120 LEDs, a 5,400mAh battery and over 5 hours of light as listed, charged by solar or USB. For moving around outside, use the rechargeable searchlight instead.

Can the DP Light solar lantern charge a phone?

Yes, it has a USB output, but treat it as an emergency top-up. The lantern's battery is listed at 800mAh, much smaller than most phone batteries, so it adds a little charge rather than a full one. You can recharge the lantern from its small solar panel or by turning the hand crank.
