Questions about this item

Straight answers before you buy. Anything else? Ask the counter.

How do I spot fake breakers and cables?

Check the markings, weight and price. Genuine breakers and cables carry clear, permanent brand names and ratings, consistent colours and a solid weight. Cable that is far cheaper than normal may be copper-clad aluminium rather than solid copper, which runs hotter. Buy from a shop that stocks known brands and will stand behind what it sells.

  • Breakers: crisp printed rating (for example C32), brand and standard; the toggle should click firmly.
  • Cables: size and maker printed along the sheath; at a cut end, the conductor should be copper-coloured right through, not silver.
  • Sockets: solid brass terminals, firm shutters and no rough plastic seams.

Can you upgrade my consumer unit or distribution board?

Yes. Our team replaces old fuse boxes and overloaded distribution boards with a new consumer unit, fitted with the right MCBs for each circuit, and adds circuits for new loads such as a cooker, water heater or solar inverter. We inspect the existing wiring first and quote after a site visit in Kiserian, Ngong, Rongai and across Kajiado County.

We stock Windsor 4-way and 6-way consumer units and Tronic, Coslik and Powermax breakers at the counter.

How much is a circuit breaker in Kenya?

At Technics Electricals & Solar in Kiserian, Tronic single-pole MCBs from 10A to 63A cost KSh 250 each, Tronic double-pole breakers KSh 500 to 650, Tronic triple-pole KSh 750 (32A) or KSh 850 (63A and 100A), and Coslik 63A or 100A double-pole KSh 350. Windsor consumer units are priced on request.

These are counter prices; send your full list on WhatsApp for a total.

What is the difference between single, double and triple pole breakers?

A single-pole MCB switches one live conductor and protects one circuit, such as lights or sockets. A double-pole breaker switches live and neutral together, often as the main switch on a single-phase supply. A triple-pole breaker protects three-phase supplies and motors. Your electrician picks the rating to match the cable and load.

At our counter: Tronic single-pole KSh 250, Tronic double-pole from KSh 500, Coslik double-pole KSh 350 and Tronic triple-pole from KSh 750.
